Sometimes referred to as a "donut," temporary spare tires are designed with a lightweight construction to save weight and maximize trunk space, and typically features a shallow tread depth that's meant for short term driving of up to 50 miles. Due to their lightweight construction, temporary spare tires should be used at a lower inflation pressure.
